Keep it Safe 24/7 provides a secure and convenient luggage storage solution on Madeira Island. Their 24/7 service includes easy-to-use lockers and a premium option for luggage collection and delivery. They ensure that whether you are waiting for a check-in or have enjoyed a shopping spree, your luggage stays safe under constant surveillance.
To achieve these goals, Keep It Safe required a highly intuitive digital platform that simplifies the user experience while seamlessly integrating digital payment options. This is where AppX comes into play.
The challenge involved designing a universally intuitive app interface for Keep It Safe 24/7. It had to be suitable for users from diverse regions and cultures, integrate simple yet secure global payment options, and address hardware complexities such as automating store doors and ensuring security for unattended lockers.
In response to the challenges, AppX developed a Web App for Keep It Safe 24/7 that addressed both the digital and physical aspects of the service. We created a user-friendly app interface that simplifies the selection process for plan and locker size. To accommodate global transactions, the platform was integrated with Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay. On the hardware front, AppX synchronized the app with automated store doors and robust locker systems, incorporating advanced security measures to prevent unauthorized access and enabling manual oversight for anomalies through a dedicated back-office system. This integrated approach resulted in a secure and efficient user experience, enabling tourists to explore Madeira Island without the burden of their luggage, all on their smartphone.
Users can select a locker size that best fits the number and dimensions of their luggage, with the platform providing graphical examples of which luggage fits in each model.
The app allows users to select a payment method and complete their reservation through the app. Once the reservation is made, customers can open the secured door of the establishment using their smartphone, providing easy and secure access.
Upon completing the reservation, customers are automatically assigned a specific locker, which can be opened at any time using their smartphone. Lockers are assigned randomly to evenly distribute usage and prevent wear and tear on lower-numbered units. This feature also enhances convenience by eliminating the need for physical keys or access cards.
For added convenience, Keep It Safe 24/7 offers a premium service where the company collects and delivers luggage upon request.
AppX utilized a modern technology stack with a React application for the frontend and Strapi for the backend and content management system (CMS). React was chosen for its robust ecosystem and efficient rendering capabilities, which enhanced the user interface with responsive features. Strapi, an open-source CMS, was selected for its quick implementation and flexibility, allowing the client to manage content easily and streamline the backend processes. This combination not only facilitated a faster time to market but also provided a scalable and maintainable architecture, ensuring the platform could adapt to growing user demands and future enhancements.
The impact of the Keep It Safe 24/7 solution on the market has been significant. Shortly after its launch, the platform surpassed 500 users within the first few months of operation, underscoring its immediate acceptance and popularity among travelers to Madeira Island. This rapid user adoption highlights the effectiveness and demand for such a service in the region. This has not only positioned the service as a market leader but also demonstrated its potential to reshape how tourists experience their visit, making exploration simpler and more enjoyable.
