AppX developed a cutting-edge digital platform for the Inspiring Future project, based on a Progressive Web App and a robust tech stack to enhance accessibility, scalability, and advanced features in their platform that serves thousands of students.
The Inspiring Future project is an educational initiative in Portugal aimed at facilitating access to higher education information through a digital platform, while also promoting fairs and workshops conducted directly in high schools. Since 2013, the project has covered the entire national territory, organizing events that bring together both national and international higher education institutions, as well as businesses, to guide high school students in their future decisions. With activities that include informational sessions about application processes, personal and professional development workshops, and presentations from various academic fields, the project serves as a complementary tool to existing educational guidance, building a promising future for the youth.
Seeking to elevate their impact, the Inspiring Future team wanted to upgrade their digital platform and partnered with AppX to develop this new version.
The challenge of enhancing the already successful Inspiring Future project came with high expectations due to its established success and broad user base. With hundreds of thousands of users interacting with the platform, a key priority was to develop an architecture that could scale effectively, addressing a notable shortfall of the previous solution. This involved creating a robust framework capable of accommodating growing traffic and future expansions smoothly. Moreover, the project required a user interface that was highly intuitive and easily searchable, ensuring quick access to a wealth of blog posts and educational resources.
The upgraded platform dramatically simplifies the hard task of making educational decisions by enhancing user experience with advanced search capabilities and a well-organized blog featuring sub-posts for easy navigation. It includes integrated tools that automatically calculate GPA and evaluate enrollment requirements, streamlining the complex application process. Additionally, it offers personalized college recommendations tailored to students’ profiles, budgets, and interests. Detailed institutional profiles provide extensive information about each college, its environment, and campus life, helping students navigate the difficult decisions regarding choosing a place to study.
The platform now features advanced search capabilities and a structured blog with a special sections architecture that functions as sub-posts, also ranking on Google. This design makes information easy to locate and navigate, while also boosting SEO.

The infrastructure is crucial for handling the large user base and significant traffic peaks, allowing for resource scaling. The platform is deployed on the Digital Ocean App Platform and uses Amazon S3 for data storage, ensuring scalability and high performance.
The impact of the platform is substantial, with hundreds of thousands of students registered and over 50 million pageviews. It serves as a crucial resource for students making informed educational decisions. They can explore a variety of colleges, comprehend admission requirements, and evaluate financial aspects including budgets and accommodation costs. The platform also offers insights into the overall college environment, aiding students in finding their best fit.
